New Delhi: A pay fixation grievance pending for nearly three decades was resolved within hours on Tuesday after the intervention of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. Two retired Doordarshan cameramen received long-awaited relief when their case, dating back to 1997, was finally settled.
The beneficiaries, Shri Devendra Sharma and Shri M. K. Mahadev Rao, met the Union Minister to apprise him of their unresolved pay fixation issue, which had remained pending despite repeated representations over the years. Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, Shri Vaishnaw directed the concerned officials to resolve the case within an hour.
Following the Minister’s instructions, the department promptly issued corrected pay fixation orders. The grievance pertained to the implementation of Rule 8 of the Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 1997, under which both employees were entitled to an additional increment during the transition to the Sixth Pay Commission.
With the issuance of the revised orders, the retirees will now receive corrected pensions along with arrears covering nearly two decades. Expressing relief, both senior citizens said that their prolonged efforts to secure rightful dues had finally concluded with the issuance of the appropriate orders.
