DGP reviews functioning of Crime Branch in Jammu

Jammu: Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, on Saturday visited the Crime Branch J&K headquarters in Jammu and reviewed the overall functioning of its various wings.

The DGP was received by Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch/Security J&K, Sujit Kumar, IPS, along with senior officers of the Crime Branch. During the visit, the DGP inspected all wings housed in the Crime Branch complex and chaired a comprehensive review meeting.

The meeting was attended by DIG Crime Branch J&K Abdul Qayoom, IPS, Joint Director Prosecution Laeeq Ahmed Dar, SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu Mohd Fiesel Qureshi, SSP Fingerprint Bureau J&K Mohd Yousif, SSP CICE J&K Ramnish Gupta, SSP ANTF J&K Mohd Anwal-ul-Haq, SSP SCW Jammu Sanjay Parihar, SP Fingerprint Bureau Jammu Noor-ul-Hassan, and SP Mohd Shafi, SO to IGP Crime J&K, among others.

Senior officers from Kashmir, including SSP Crime Branch EOW Kashmir Abdul Waheed Shah and SSP Crime Branch SCW Kashmir Muzaffar Ahmed Shah, participated in the meeting through video conferencing from the Crime Branch headquarters in Srinagar.

At the outset, the IGP Crime Branch welcomed the DGP, who also released a booklet titled “Cyber Shield,” highlighting initiatives to strengthen cybercrime prevention and awareness.

Detailed presentations were made by various wings of the Crime Branch, outlining their functioning and achievements during 2025, particularly in the disposal of FIRs and complaints. The DGP appreciated the overall performance of the Crime Branch and issued directions to further expedite the disposal of pending cases and enhance efficiency.

On the occasion, the DGP also awarded several officers for outstanding performance during the year, including DySP Vishal Sharma (EOW Jammu), DySP Albeena Malik (CICE J&K), DySP Bhagwan Dass (SCW Jammu), DySP Jagpal Sharma (NAFIS), Inspector Ashwani Kumar, and Inspector Gurnam Choudhary.

The visit concluded with a vote of thanks presented by DIG Crime Branch J&K Abdul Qayoom, IPS, who expressed gratitude for the guidance and directions provided by the DGP.
