BUDGAM: In a major boost to rural infrastructure and public health, Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today inaugurated a series of vital Water Supply Schemes across the Charar-e-Sharief constituency.

Developed under the flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), these projects worth ₹20 crore will benefit about 21000 souls. They have been designed to provide sustainable Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to hundreds of families, ensuring that the vision of “Har Ghar Jal” (Water in Every Home) becomes a reality for the region’s rural population.

The newly commissioned schemes will provide clean, piped water to several key areas within the constituency that have previously faced water scarcity. The beneficiary areas included Kaisermulla, Kadipora, Kulmach Objipathri, Hakhpora Haptnar and Sheer Check.

Addressing the residents from Zaloosa, Haptnar, Kadipora, Hakhpora and adjacent localities, the Speaker emphasised that the Jal Jeevan Mission is more than just a series of engineering projects; it is aimed at transforming the quality of life in rural Kashmir.

“These schemes will not only save time and reduce the drudgery of fetching water from distant sources, a burden often borne by our women and children, but will also significantly improve public health by preventing water-borne diseases,” stated Abdul Rahim Rather.

During the tour, the Speaker was accompanied by SE PHE, Executive Engineer and other officials of PHE.
