Security personnel attempted to evacuate and rescue him. He succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.

Following the firefight, the terrorists fled into the nearby Forests. Security forces have launched a massive search operation to track them down, he said.

The IGP said a joint operation involving the police, the Indian Army, and the CRPF is underway. Forces have cordoned off the forest area to prevent the militants from escaping.

The operation remains ongoing. Security has been tightened in and around the area.(KNS)
