New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan on Friday raised two infrastructure concerns of north Kashmir, asking the Union Government for urgent attention to the long-pending Bandipora–Lolab road project and the proposed four-lane corridor from Sangrama to Chowkibal via Sopore and Handwara.
During the Question Hour, the MP sought to know whether the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways was aware of these crucial connectivity demands and what steps were being taken to expedite them.
Responding to the query, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said the Ministry would examine both proposals in detail, including conducting feasibility studies and preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).
“Upon completion of technical evaluations, the Ministry will move forward with the necessary steps on these two important projects,” Gadkari assured the House.
The Bandipora–Lolab road and the Sangrama–Sopore–Handwara–Chowkibal 4-lane corridor are long-standing demands of residents who believe the projects will significantly improve regional mobility, boost economic potential, and enhance accessibility across north Kashmir.
