Srinagar: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K Education and Skill Development Panels hosted a three-day Financial Literacy Workshop, in collaboration with KM Technical and Training Management Institute, Salvatore International School, and SSM College of Engineering.
These institutions partnered with the Private Schools Association, J&K, as knowledge partners, enhancing the initiative by bringing students from various schools across different districts to participate.
The workshop aimed to equip school students with essential, market-ready skills. This initiative underscores CII J&K’s ongoing commitment to bridge the gap between industry and academia while promoting skill development in the region.
Held at KMTTMI, M.A. Road, Srinagar, the event featured a keynote address from Naseer Ahmad Wani, Director of Education. He emphasized the critical need for financial literacy among youth, stating, “Empowering our students with practical financial skills is crucial for their personal and professional development. We must also teach our students to earn money ethically; understanding the value of integrity in financial endeavours is paramount for their future success.”
Attending as a special guest, Iqram Ali Shafiee, Vice Chairman of CII J&K, recognized the contributions of Haya Qazi and Ufair Ajaz, affirming, “CII is committed to making great strides in skill development and education, and this initiative is a testament to our dedication to empowering the youth of J&K.”
Central office bearers of the Private Schools Association, J&K, were also present, including Baba Nazrul Islam, President, and executive members Tahir Ahmad and Majid Bhat.
From the CII members, Ufair Ajaz Kitab, Convener of the CII J&K Skills Development Panel, along with Ridha Rashid and Ausman Qayoom, were also in attendance.
Participating schools included Oxford Presentation School (Anantnag), Green Valley Educational Institute (Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar), Millennium International School (Srinagar), Life School Charari Sharief (Budgam), and Salvatore International School (Bandipora).
Dr. Ajaz Mistree, a distinguished trainer, led detailed financial literacy training sessions for students throughout the workshop. His expertise engaged participants in hands-on activities that inspired interest in essential financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and entrepreneurship. This workshop not only aims to empower young individuals but also aligns with CII J&K’s mission to foster a skilled workforce prepared to meet the challenges of a dynamic job market.
