Rasul Mir’s Doru is No Less Than Ancient Greek: Scholars at Book Launch

Dooru: The Institute of Research and Writers Academy on Sunday organised a dignified book release ceremony at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Dooru, to unveil Rashahaat, a comprehensive volume documenting the life and scholarly legacy of renowned writer and religious thinker Abu Tariq Ghulam Nabi Mir, on his first death anniversary.
The event was presided over by Grand Mufti Nasser-ul-Islam, and attended by an eminent galaxy of scholars and intellectuals including Justice Bashir Kirmani, former Director General Education Dr. G. N. Itoo, Prof. Shaukat Hussain Kaing, Syed Muhammad Aslam Andrabi, Manshoor Banihali, veteran journalist Yousuf Jameel, Justice Mir Wajahat Salam, Ali Sheida, Maulana Khursheed Ahmad Qanoongo, and Dr. Kawusa.
The proceedings were conducted with grace by Dr. Shahid Sheeda.
The gathering also witnessed the presence of leading writers and literary figures such as Arshad Kallo, Shakil Ahmad Khade, Syed Shakeel Qalandar, along with several academics, poets, and social activists.
Prominent local bodies including the Bar Association Dooru, Auqaf Committees of Dooru and Verinag, Civil Society groups, the Trade Association Dooru, and various cultural organisations also marked their presence, adding to the event’s community significance.
Rashahaat, co-authored by Mir Burhan-ul-Haq and Faryal Fatima, chronicles the intellectual and spiritual contributions of Abu Tariq, father of late senior journalist Tariq Ali Mir.
Awards Presented
On the occasion, the Academy conferred several awards honouring excellence in literature and public service:
Haji Rasul Mir Memorial Award was posthumously awarded to Siraj Din Shahabadi for his book Sareet Syed-ul-Abrar.
Abu Tariq Memorial Award was presented to Peerzada Yousuf-ul-Hussani for his noted scholarly work Saalaar-e-Ajam.
The Er. Farooq Mir Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Dr. G. N. Itoo in recognition of his distinguished services to the nation.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt tributes celebrating the enduring intellectual and cultural influence of Abu Tariq Ghulam Nabi Mir.
