Home Guards, Civil Defence celebrate 63rd Raising Day in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: 63rd Annual Raising Day of Home Guards & Civil Defence was celebrated in the premises of SDRF 1st Battalion Srinagar with a march past by contingents of Home Guards, Civil Defence from Srinagar and Budgam, SDRF, NDRF and Pipe Band.

DIG (Director Home Guards Kashmir), Ramesh Angral, was Chief Guest, who presided over the function and took over the Salute of the March Past.

DIG (Director Civil Defence & SDRF Kashmir), Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, was Guest of Honour on the occasion. The function was also attended by   Commandant SDRF 1st Bn Srinagar, Masroor Ahmad Mir,  DySPs and other officers Wardens, volunteers and prominent citizens.

The chief guest while addressing the gathering commended the role of Civil Defence and Home Guard volunteers during various exigencies like Operation Sindoor, Flash Floods, Cloudburst, Floods and other exigencies.

On the occasion, Commendation Certificates with Cash Reward of Rs 10,000 each from Commandant General HG, CD & SDRF J&K were distributed among the civilians who have shown exemplary bravery and commendable effort in saving human lives after the Pahalgam attack on 22nd April 2025 and the powerful explosion in the Police Station Nowgam Srinagar on 14th November 2025.

Besides, Commendation Certificates with cash reward of Rs 5,000 each from Commandant General HG, CD & SDRF J&K were distributed among the Civil Defence Wardens and Volunteers who have shown extraordinary performance while conducting Civil Defence Training/Awareness Camps and Rescue Activities.

At the conclusion of the function, DIG (Director Civil Defence & SDRF Kashmir) commended selfless services of volunteers towards the nation and its citizens and emphasised upon them to work for the society with greater enthusiasm, zeal and zest in future also.
