Leh: A delegation from Phobrang village today met with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, and highlighted the urgent need for establishing ultra-small banks in remote border areas of the Union Territory.

The delegation informed the Lt Governor that due to Ladakh’s challenging terrain and vast distances, local residents and Army personnel are forced to travel long and difficult routes to access basic banking services.

The Lt Governor agreed with the concerns raised and said that traditional large bank branches are often not feasible in such remote locations. He stressed that ensuring access to essential facilities—including banking—is a priority for the UT Administration.

Kavinder Gupta assured the delegation that the Administration is committed to extending financial services to even the last village of Ladakh for the welfare and convenience of both civilians and security forces.

In another meeting, the President of the Architect and Town Planner Association Kargil, along with employees from Jammu currently serving in different departments across Ladakh, also called on the Lt Governor and discussed issues related to their professional requirements and administrative support.
