BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the progress of the Semi Ring Road Phase-II Project, a key infrastructure corridor connecting Sumbal to Manigam as part of the 4-lane Ring Road.

During the meeting, representatives from NHAI presented a detailed PPT, outlining the current status of works, project components, plant and machinery deployed, and site-wise progress of structures.

On the occasion, NHAI informed that ongoing works were being affected by weather-related hurdles, particularly in earthwork and structure concreting.

The DC took note of these difficulties but directed the agency to adopt a more aggressive execution strategy. She directed NHAI to run multiple activities simultaneously, emphasising that “work should not proceed in a slow manner” and must show visible scaling in manpower and machinery deployment.

During the meeting, the DC further directed the agency to flag issues immediately instead of piling them up and urged to ensure that no exercise becomes futile or delayed due to avoidable hurdles. She emphasized to maintain strong coordination with Revenue, PWD, and district administration and urged to resolve field-level bottlenecks at the earliest.

Calling for community cooperation, the DC said that the Semi Ring Road is a transformative project for the district and urged people, particularly landowners and residents along the alignment to extend support so that the project is completed within the targeted timelines.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the administration remains committed to ensuring timely execution, transparent processes, and smooth inter-departmental coordination, noting that Phase-II holds significant importance in improving mobility, reducing congestion, and boosting regional connectivity.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; SE PWD (R&B) Circle Bandipora; SDM Sumbal; Project Director NHAI, PIU, Srinagar; EXEN PWD (R&B) Sumbal; Tehsildar Sumbal and other concerned officers.
