Legislators, public delegations meet Minister Satish Sharma at Sgr

SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Transport, IT, Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, today held an extensive public outreach and grievance-redressal session at the Civil Secretariat here, during which a wide range of delegations and dignitaries called on him to discuss issues pertaining to their respective sectors.

The day-long interaction witnessed participation from MLAs from Uri, Shopian, Pampore, and Kangan, representatives of trade bodies, workers’ associations, and various aspirant groups seeking policy support and resolution of pending matters.

The legislators apprised the Minister of constituency-specific concerns related to ration supply, transportation services, and youth-centric programmes.

During interaction, Minister Satish Sharma assured timely intervention and directed concerned departments to act promptly.

The delegation of the Fair Price Shop Association raised matters concerning supply-chain management and operational challenges. The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the Public Distribution System (PDS) through transparent and technology-driven mechanisms.

Deputation of the Kerosene Oil Association highlighted distribution-related issues. The Minister assured that all genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities.

The pensioners of JKRTC also called on the Minister and discussed long-pending service-related matters.

Minister Sharma instructed the Transport Department to expedite clearances and streamline pending cases.

Deputations of Aspirants of Forest Inspector Exam, Social Forest Workers, Forest Protection Force Guard, Wildlife Guard, and the President of Mutton Dealers Association also called on the Minister.

The deputations brought forward issues regarding recruitment processes, service regularisation, working conditions, and market regulation.

The Minister assured fair consideration and said that the government is committed to transparent recruitment, improved workforce welfare, and streamlined trade practices.

Satish Sharma reaffirmed that open dialogue with stakeholders is a key component of the government’s governance model.

He said that “Our administration is committed to active engagement and timely redressal of issues brought forth by citizens, associations, and public representatives. Every genuine grievance will be addressed with urgency and sincerity.”

The Minister assured that follow-up meetings will be held with departmental heads to ensure that the concerns raised during today’s interactions are resolved within a set timeframe.

Meanwhile, the Minister also undertook a review meeting of the FCS&CA department and took stock of availability, winter preparedness, and essential deliveries across districts.

The Commissioner/Secretary briefed the Minister about the measures undertaken to ensure an adequate supply of essentials and stocks.

The MD JKRTC also called on the Minister and briefed him on fleet augmentation, financial stabilisation measures, and service expansion plans.
