Samagra Shiksha, UNICEF conduct ICT & planning workshop in J&K

JAMMU: Samagra Shiksha Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with UNICEF India, organised a one-day workshop on “ICT in Education” and “Evidence-Based Planning” at KC Residency, Jammu. The programme was held under the leadership of Ram Niwas Sharma, Secretary, School Education Department, and the guidance of Bhawani Rakwal, Project Director, Samagra Shiksha.

The workshop featured insightful sessions by Ganesh Nigam, Education Specialist and Gurumurthy Kasinathan, Director, IT for Change. They shared key perspectives on integrating technology and evidence-based practices into educational planning. The discussions focused on strengthening institutional capacities to use datasets such as U-DISE+, ASER, NSS, and PGI for informed, data-driven decision-making in alignment with NEP 2020, Samagra Shiksha, and SDG 4.

The ICT component highlighted the development of a practical and inclusive digital roadmap for schools, emphasising responsible, learner-centric use of technology to ensure equitable access, particularly for students from marginalized communities. Around 100 participants from the Jammu Division attended the workshop.

The event was coordinated by Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, with active support from Lakshmi Puri, Nazir Ahmad, Munish Sabarwal, Mohammad Shafi Peer, and Gowhar Hussain.

The workshop reaffirmed the School Education Department’s commitment to advancing technology-enabled, data-informed, and child-centred education across Jammu & Kashmir.
