DC Kupwara reviews winter stocking and preparedness

KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the preparations for the upcoming winter season.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed the status of advanced stocking and supply position of ration, LPG, fuel, especially in snow-bound areas, including border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill.

The Deputy Commissioner was apprised regarding the preparedness of various executing agencies, including R&B, PMGSY, MED, BEACON, Municipal Committees, with respect to Snow clearance activities.

Executive Engineers PDD were directed to ensure sufficient buffer stock of transformers, T-oil, poles and cables, as well as deployment of quick response teams to address issues of power supply during snowfall.

Preparedness made by other departments like health, Jal Shakti, Forest, and RDD was also discussed in detail during the meeting.

All the line departments, especially R&B/MED, PDD, Jal Shakti, health and Police, were directed to ensure their control rooms were functional in addition to the DDMA control room for timely response to the situation to address the emerging issues during winters and emergencies.

The DC directed to augment facilities at designated Shelter accommodations at Panzgam, Meelyal and Kalaroose so that stranded passengers of snow-bound areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill are properly accommodated in case of road closure during heavy snowfall.

It was also informed in the meeting that a Mock Drill will be conducted to assess the preparations by the department on the ground so as to tackle any emergency situation during heavy snowfall/bad weather.

The DC emphasised on coordinated and quick response from all departments during emergencies to minimise inconvenience to the general public.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Kupwara, Muft Fareed U Din; ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ADC Handwara, Javaid Naseem Masoodi; ASP Kupwara, ACR, SDM Lolab, ACD, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, R&B, PMGSY, MED and other concerned officers.
