Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Anantnag, Pulwama and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that near Methmoo Crossing in Anantnag, police arrested Dilpazeer Khan alias Gojjar Bama of Sanglan Uttrasoo after 3.140 kgs of grinded cannabis was recovered from his possession.

At Mandipora crossing Dooru, two persons — Sharoof Ahmad Wagay of Guchan, and Mohammad Yaseen Shah of Tamboripora – were arrested after 750 grams of a marijuana-like substance wrapped in nylon and 410 grams of poppy straw were recovered from them.

At Okhoo Kakapora in Pulwama, Mohammad Iftikhar Ali of Mamgarh Road, Maril Kotla, Punjab, and Mohammad Altaf Naik of Urbag Kakpora, were arrested and their vehicle (HR51BD-1552) seized after they were found carrying 12 kilograms of poppy straw and a grinder.

In Ganderbal, one Manzoor Ahmad Gunchi of Gunchi Mohalla Akhal was arrested following a raid on his residential premises, where 4.5 kgs of marijuana-like substance (Bhangpatri) was recovered.

Cases have been registered in all these instances for investigation, police said.
