Chinar Corps hosts first General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League in Kashmir

Srinagar: In a vibrant celebration of sporting excellence and patriotic fervour, the Chinar Corps’s Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) successfully conducted the first edition of the General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League – 2025, in honour of General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff and an enduring symbol of leadership, courage, and national pride.

The premier league was organised with the noble objective of instilling sportsmanship and discipline among the youth of Kashmir through the unifying spirit of sports. The tournament brought together four top-tier teams representing Kupwara, Baramulla, Sharifabad, and Awantipora, each showcasing exceptional footballing skills and teamwork throughout the competition.

The grand finale, held on 07 November 2025 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora, witnessed an electrifying contest between BISMA FC and DAR FC, with BISMA FC emerging victorious. A spirited audience of over 500 spectators filled the stands, transforming the venue into a cauldron of energy, emotion, and unity.

Throughout the league, players displayed extraordinary zeal and camaraderie, reflecting the very values that General Bipin Rawat epitomised. The overwhelming participation and enthusiastic turnout reaffirmed Bandipora’s reputation as the cradle of sports in the Kashmir Valley, underscoring the region’s growing enthusiasm for football as a medium of youth empowerment and social awakening.

The inaugural edition of the General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League also served as a bridge of goodwill and mutual respect between the Indian Army and the local populace, further strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation.
