Secretary ITD reviews implementation of e-SAM portal in J&K

JAMMU: Secretary, Information Technology Department (ITD), Dr. Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review the progress on implementation of e-SAM (e-Security Assessment and Management) Inventory Management Portal across Jammu & Kashmir.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on various issues related to the smooth implementation of the e-SAM Inventory Management Portal.

Addressing the officers in the meeting, the Secretary highlighted that the core vision of the e-SAM Portal is to establish a unified, real-time, and end-to-end inventory management system for all IT infrastructure across Government departments, extending up to the grassroots level. He added that in later stages, the complete IT inventory of the UT of J&K will be integrated with EDR and other cybersecurity systems to enhance asset visibility and strengthen overall cybersecurity posture.

He asked the officers to organise regular training and onboarding sessions for Administrative Departments and Sub-DDOs to ensure smooth operational rollout across all levels.

The Secretary directed that NIC will incorporate an additional module in the e-SAM Portal to capture software inventory details, in addition to hardware assets.

He emphasized on the importance of timely coordination among all stakeholders and directed that the complete implementation of the e-SAM Portal should be ensured by 15th December 2025.

During the meeting, the Secretary was informed that user accounts for all 42 departments Administrative Departments have been created and that admin credentials have already been shared with the respective departments. The departmental administrators will now create Store In-charge level user accounts at their end.

The Project Management Unit (PMU) further apprised the Secretary that department-wise coordination meetings with Nodal Officers are scheduled to commence from 10th November 2025 to provide structured onboarding and handholding support.
