Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma said that the Government is steadfast in its mission to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a vibrant hub of sports activity by ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure at the grassroots level. He emphasized that sports not only foster discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being but also empower youth to lead meaningful and purpose-driven lives.

“The vision of Government is to ensure that every district and block has quality sports infrastructure so that our youth can train, compete, and excel at state, national, and international levels,” the Minister remarked. He further assured that Verinag’s upgraded playfield will serve as a cornerstone for nurturing young talent in the area and inspire greater participation in games and fitness activities.

In his address, MLA Dooru, G. A. Mir expressed gratitude to the Minister for prioritizing the aspirations of youth of Dooru Shahabad. He said the upgraded facility will not only enhance sports culture in the area but also contribute to the overall well-being and social development of the younger generation.

Pertinently, the upgraded playfield will feature modern turfing, boundary fencing, spectator stands, changing rooms, and other amenities essential for hosting inter-school, inter-district, and regional-level tournaments. The project has been conceived to provide a safe, inclusive, and well-equipped environment for sports enthusiasts across the area and after completion it is expected to become a vibrant centre for sporting excellence and youth engagement in Verinag area.
