Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Thursday achieved a key milestone by disbursing over ₹100 crore in a single day under Mission YUVA, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s flagship employment and entrepreneurship programme.

The large-scale disbursal, observed across all districts as Mission YUVA Disbursal Day, benefitted around 1,200 young entrepreneurs. The initiative aims to strengthen youth-led enterprises across the Union Territory by facilitating access to credit and business development support.

According to official data, Mission YUVA has so far registered 1.26 lakh youth. Of these, 51,000 applications have been completed, 8,500 cases sanctioned, and 6,500 enterprises have received funding. Projects worth ₹700 crore have been sanctioned overall, with ₹370 crore already disbursed.

Under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Mission has been developed through inter-departmental consultations led by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. The project was dedicated to the Union Territory by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Speaking on the occasion, Amitava Chatterjee, Managing Director and CEO of J&K Bank, commended the efforts of teams involved in the initiative.

“This milestone is not just about credit disbursed—it reflects the confidence and potential of J&K’s youth. Mission YUVA represents the shared commitment of the Government and J&K Bank to enable young people to become job creators,” he said.

Senior bank officials, including Chief General Manager (Business Development) Sunit Kumar, General Managers Rakesh Magotra and Nishikant Sharma, and DGM Aneet Kanwal Singh, attended the event along with divisional and zonal heads, district coordinators, and Mission YUVA representatives.

Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, praised the coordination between government agencies and banks for ensuring timely and efficient credit delivery. Mission Director Shahzad Alam described the programme as a “scalable model for grassroots entrepreneurship” that other states and Union Territories could emulate.

Mission YUVA, led by the Department of Employment and Skill Development, is designed to help young people transition from job-seeking to job-creating.

The programme targets the establishment of 1.37 lakh enterprises over five years, with an estimated 4.25 lakh employment opportunities. A baseline survey covering 23.64 lakh households has identified around five lakh potential entrepreneurs whose projects are being supported through Small Business Development Units (SBDUs), Business Help Desks (BHDs), and YUVA-Doots at the local level.

Applications are processed through the dedicated Mission YUVA Portal (www.missionyuva.jk.gov.in), which integrates AI-based project report generation and digital credit linkage with partner banks, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

The single-day disbursal of ₹100 crore highlights the growing focus on youth empowerment and enterprise development in Jammu and Kashmir. Through Mission YUVA, the Government aims to build a self-sustaining, technology-driven ecosystem that supports innovation, local enterprise, and inclusive economic growth.
