“Sainik School Manasbal has produced men of honour who have gone on to serve the nation with distinction — in the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the civil administration. There must be something truly special about this institution that so many of its alumni hold such prestigious positions,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting quality education, Omar Abdullah, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Body of Sainik School Manasbal, said that in an era of growing competition — whether in colleges, civil services, or other examinations — it was imperative to provide the best possible facilities and infrastructure to students.

“We are committed to ensuring that schools like Sainik School Manasbal are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure so that students can compete at the highest levels. We want to introduce new initiatives that will benefit the school and its students,” he said.

The Chief Minister announced that the school’s sports ground will be modernised with the installation of synthetic turf for football and athletic activities, adding that the government will continue to support the institution in all possible ways.

Praising the school’s academic environment, Omar Abdullah said that Sainik School Manasbal embodies the spirit of discipline, dedication, and holistic education. “Here, teachers inspire students, and education extends beyond classrooms to shape responsible, confident citizens. This institution stands as a beacon of excellence and integrity,” he said.

Calling upon students to prepare themselves for greater responsibilities, the Chief Minister said, “Let Sainik School Manasbal continue to be a symbol of excellence, discipline, and integrity — a place where the future of Jammu and Kashmir is shaped with courage and conviction.”

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Education Sakina Itoo said that education has the power to change the world and transform societies. Remembering Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, the founder of Sainik School Manasbal, she said, “If we do not pay our tributes to him today, we do a great disservice to this nation. Institutions like Sainik School Manasbal must continue to provide quality education to children from all backgrounds, especially those from underprivileged sections.”

Earlier, the Chief Minister took the salute at the March Past presented by the school cadets and witnessed an impressive cultural programme by the students. He also inaugurated an Art and Science Exhibition showcasing the creativity and innovation of young learners.

The event was attended by MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, Secretary School Education Ram Niwas, Director General School Education Kashmir Dr. G. N. Itoo, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, Principal Sainik School Manasbal Manzoor Ahmed Najar, besides other officers, students, staff members and parents of the students.
