Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is set to take up key legislative business on Monday, including the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Rent Authority Bill, 2025 by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the presentation of the House Committee Report on the revision of salaries and pensionary benefits for legislators.

A detailed agenda focusing on several matters of urgent public importance and the introduction of key legislation is set for Monday.

According to the business list issued J&K Assembly Secretary, the House is set for its sitting on October 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The day’s proceedings will begin with questions, followed by the announcement of the panel of chairmen by the Speaker.

The session will then take up five Calling Attention Notices highlighting pressing public issues from different constituencies:

Mir Saifullah will draw attention to the non-availability of food-grains and ration in far-flung areas of Keran and Jamgund, which remain cut-off during winters due to heavy snowfall, list of business reads.

Nizam-ud-Din Bhat will raise the issue of the spread of Hepatitis A and other waterborne diseases in Arin Block, Bandipora, posing serious health risks.

Hilal Akbar Lone will seek action on losses suffered by fruit growers following the recent National Highway blockade and delay in compensation.

Qaysar Jamshaid Lone will highlight the acute shortage of potable drinking water in the Lolab constituency, urging immediate intervention by the Jal Shakti Department.

Ranbir Singh Pathania will call the attention of the Chief Minister (in charge of Housing and Urban Development) towards illegal dumping of garbage by Udhampur Municipality at Village Mand, which has caused pollution and health hazards along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.

The House will also witness the presentation of a report by Surjeet Singh Slathia, Chairman of the House Committee, recommending revision in the salary and allowances of MLAs and pensionary benefits for former legislators.

Later, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to introduce “The Jammu and Kashmir Rent Authority Bill, 2025” (LA Bill No. 4 of 2025) aimed at establishing a Rent Authority to regulate tenancy, protect the interests of landlords and tenants, and ensure speedy dispute resolution through an adjudicatory mechanism.
