Srinagar: Police have arrested six absconders in Sopore, Shopian and Awantipora who had been on the run for years in separate cases, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said in Sopore, an absconder, Saleem Ahmad Sheik, son of Fojia Sheik, resident of Parimpora, presently Sheik Colony Makhdoom Sahib Srinagar, who had been evading arrest since 2003, was arrested.
Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir of Lachipora Handwara, absconding since 2016, was also arrested in Sopore.
In Shopian, Munshi Chohan of Aribal Kulgam; Gulzar Ahmad Bhat of Niloora Pulwama; and Farooq Ahmad Lone of Noorpora Tral, evading law for over three decades, were arrested.
In Awantipora, police arrested Latief Ahmad Akhoon, son of Jalal din of Mulfaq Harwan Srinagar, who was evading arrest for the last 14 years, police said.
