Srinagar: As part of the observance of Police Commemoration Day and Police Flag Day Week, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a series of sports events across various districts, aimed at fostering youth engagement, promoting fitness, and strengthening police-public relations.
In Bandipora, a Badminton Championship was organised under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024–25 at the Indoor Sports Stadium, DPL Bandipora. The event saw enthusiastic participation from young athletes in both Singles and Doubles categories. SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar (JKPS), who attended as the Chief Guest along with ADC Bandipora Zafar Hussain Shawl (KAS), encouraged the youth to maintain discipline, work hard, and contribute positively to society. The event was lauded for promoting healthy competition and reinforcing the Police’s commitment to community engagement.
In Awantipora, as part of the Police Flag Day Week celebrations, SSP Awantipora inaugurated Badminton (Girls – Senior/Junior) and Volleyball (Boys – Senior/Junior) tournaments at DPL Awantipora. Students from various age groups participated with great enthusiasm. Addressing the players, the SSP emphasised that sports instil positive energy, discipline, and resilience among youth and assured that more such events would be organized in the future. Members of civil society, players, and spectators attended the occasion in large numbers.
Similarly, in Sopore, the Police organised a Volleyball Tournament at DPL Sopore to pay tribute to the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib (JKPS), who highlighted that the event symbolized the unity, strength, and resilience of the Police force. He stated that such activities serve as a tribute to the martyrs while promoting teamwork, discipline, and fitness among youth.
