Srinagar: In a heartwarming display of unity and festivity, the Indian Army celebrated Diwali with residents of the remote border village of Gohallan in Baramulla district along the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday.
The event highlighted the enduring bond between soldiers and local communities living in the country’s frontier regions.
The celebrations filled the quiet mountain settlement with light and cheer, as soldiers and villagers came together to illuminate diyas, exchange sweets, and share moments of warmth despite the area’s geographical isolation. For many in Gohallan, the celebration was not just about the festival of lights, but also about togetherness and reassurance in a region often defined by its remoteness and challenges.
For the soldiers stationed far from their families, the evening offered a sense of belonging and emotional connection with the people they serve to protect. The joint celebration symbolized the spirit of Diwali—dispelling darkness with light and fostering bonds of friendship and hope.
The event stood as a poignant reminder of the unity that transcends boundaries, as the glow of diyas in Gohallan lit up not only the village but also the hearts of those who gathered there. Together, the soldiers and villagers kindled a shared Diwali—one that illuminated both the frontier and the spirit of harmony that defines India’s diverse fabric.
