BARAMULLA: Minister for Agriculture Production Department, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar today inaugurated a Kisan Mela-cum-Exhibition at Dak Banglow here, organized by department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Baramulla.
Addressing the Mela, the Minister said that this Kisan Mela serves as a unique platform to connect farmers, agri experts, agrientrepreneurs and institutions, showcasing modern technologies, government schemes and success stories aimed at empowering our farming community. He added that the mela also demonstrated improved crop varieties and animal breeds, advanced farm and agricultural machinery, displays of innovative technologies, as well as sustainable agricultural practices and improved crop yields.
Javid Dar expressed confidence that the Kisan Mela would go a long way in empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region. He urged farmers to take advantage of the event and learn about the latest technologies and schemes aimed at improving their livelihoods.
The Minister stated that the department will exercise strict control over the sale of sub-standard pesticides and fertilisers in the markets. “We will establish a check post to regularly monitor and check the quality of pesticides and fertilisers being sold in the markets,” he said. He warned that strict action would be taken against those found selling substandard pesticides and fertilisers.
Javid Dar urged upon the officers to work tirelessly to resolve all the issues of the farming community. He also called for conducting awareness camps at all block levels so that the farmers gets benefits from all schemes run by central as well as state government.
Earlier, Javid Dar also inspected the stalls established by Agriculture, Horticulture Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, allied sector and other stakeholders.
MLA, Baramulla, Javed Hassan Beigh; MLA Pattan, Javaid Riyaz Bedar; MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar; MlA Uri, Dr. Sajad Shafi; Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah; others District officers and larger number of farmers were present on the occasion.
