   WGAJK urges J&K Sports Secy to discuss winter sports calendar

Srinagar: To discuss a range of issues pertaining to winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir, members of the Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir today had a meeting with Secretary J&K Sports Council.

In addition to the 6th edition of Khelo India Winter Games 2026, Secretary JKSC asked the members to prepare for activities at the national and domestic levels. Secretary JKSC also emphasized the importance of exploring winter sports activities throughout J&K, specifically in Sonamarg, Shopian, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar.

Winter sports in J&K has a lot of potential, and expanding these activities to locations other than Gulmarg will undoubtedly help J&K’s winter sports grow, which will in turn help to promote winter tourism as well.

In order to organise the aforementioned events throughout J&K, members of WGAJK assured the Secretary of JKSC of full support and coordination. They also assured to look into every possibility for holding winter sports events at these locations.

The meeting was attended by DSOC JKSC Javid Ur Rehman (JKAS), Majid Yousuf Executive Officer JKSC, President WGAJK Rauf Tramboo, Ab Rehmaan Dar and Hafeeza.
