Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Awantipora and Kupwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that near Kaigam Crossing in Awantipora, police intercepted a vehicle (RJ14TB-6291) with two persons onboard. Identified as Zahid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh; and Mehraj Ahmad Ragga, son of Mohammad Yousuf Ragga; both residents of Hamdania Colony Bemina, were arrested and vehicle seized after 65 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession.
He also said that in Kupwara, at Tekipora near Eid-Gah, two persons — Nisar Ahmad Magray, son of Abdul Gaffar Magray, of Wani Doursa; and Arshid Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Mussa Khan, resident of Tekipora – were arrested after cannabis-like substance wrapped in green polythene was recovered from their possession.
