Srinagar: Police in Sopore have arrested a “wanted accused who had been evading arrest for the past eight years”.
A police spokesperson identified the arrested individual as Javid Ahmad Ahanger, son of Ali Mohammad Ahanger of Judinambal Panzla, who was wanted in Case FIR No. 31/2014 under sections 457 and 380 RPC of Police Station Sopore.
The accused had been on the run since 2017 to evade arrest. Acting on specific intelligence, a police traced and apprehended him.
After legal formalities, he was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore and subsequently lodged in Subsidiary Jail Sopore.
