Srinagar: National Conference MP Ruhullah Mehdi criticized his party’s government in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it has failed on the political front as it nears one year in office on October 16.
“The government needed to show intent on political issues, but that hasn’t happened,” Mehdi told reporters, urging authorities to address public concerns.
He also accused the BJP of having no intention to restore J-K’s statehood and keeping people “disempowered” following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.
Regarding Budgam bypolls, Mehdi said he has conveyed the constituency’s demands to the party. He also called for the withdrawal of the Public Security Act on AAP MLA Mehraj Malik to ensure his participation in the upcoming assembly session. Malik was detained under PSA on September 8 for allegedly disturbing public order in Doda.
