BJP holds crucial meetings, appoints assembly elections Incharges, Co-Incharges

Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, held crucial meetings, including an Election Committee meeting at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to discuss the names of candidates for the Nagrota and Budgam Assembly Constituencies, and also framed a committee to meet the people in the Guru Granth Sahib discretion case.

During the meeting, the party finalized the panel of names for the Nagrota and Budgam Assembly Constituencies and constituted an Election Management Committee to oversee the entire process. In consultation with Tarun Chugh, Ashok Koul, and other senior leaders, Sat Sharma announced the following appointments for the upcoming by-elections for both constituencies. These appointments have been made in the interest of ensuring effective coordination and smooth management of all election-related activities in the respective constituencies. Sham Lal Sharma, MLA, Jammu North is appointed as Election Incharge, Nagrota Assembly Constituency. Bharat Bhushan, BJP Vice-President, former MLA and DDC Chairman, Jammu is appointed as Co-Incharge.

In Kashmir, Mohd Anwar Khan, BJP General Secretary is appointed as Election Incharge, Budgam Assembly Constituency, and Imtyaz Ahmad Bhat, General Secretary, BJP Minority Morcha is appointed as Co-Incharge.

These appointments, made under the guidance of senior leadership, are aimed at ensuring effective coordination, prompt decision-making, and smooth management of all election-related activities in the respective constituencies.

Taking serious cognizance of the unfortunate incident of disrespect to the sacred Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Samba, the BJP constituted a high-level committee to assess the ground situation and meet the community elders.

The committee would be headed by Dr. Narinder Singh, with its members as LoP Sunil Sharma, former MLC S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, DDC Chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma, MLAs Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Surjit Singh Salathia, and CP Ganga, BDC Chaiman Darshan Singh, DDC Anita Chowdhary, DDC Sarbjit Singh Johal, S Varinderjit Singh, District President Asha Rani, S. Paramjit Singh Pammi, S. Amrik Singh, and S. Balwinder Singh.

Tarun Chugh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party condemns the incident in the harshest possible terms. He said that such an act of disrespect towards sacred symbols and sentiments is absolutely unacceptable in a civilised society. He emphasized that BJP remains committed to maintaining peace, social harmony, and religious respect in Jammu and Kashmir, while also ensuring that the party’s political and organizational focus remains steadfast on transparent, people-centric governance and strong representation in the upcoming elections.

Sat Sharma, while addressing the meeting, said that the BJP is moving ahead with unity and commitment to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP J&K is working to build a peaceful, prosperous, and developed J&K. The upcoming by-elections are an opportunity to strengthen this mission. The appointments made today reflect the party’s confidence in experienced leadership and its grassroots strength, he said.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the BJP has transformed the political landscape of J&K with its consistent focus on good governance and public outreach. He said that the BJP has emerged as the voice of every section of society in J&K. Our workers are our strength, and the organizational discipline we demonstrate will ensure a decisive victory in the coming elections, he stated.

Sunil Sharma emphasized that the party’s election preparedness in both Jammu and Kashmir regions showcases its expanding base and unwavering commitment to people’s issues. He said that the BJP will take the message of peace, progress, and inclusive development to every household. The BJP’s approach is rooted in service, not power, he asserted.

The Election Committee meeting was chaired by BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who is also Prabhari for J&K BJP. Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization), Dr. Narinder Singh, BJP National Secretary, Dr. Nirmal Singh, former Dy CM, former President Ravinder Raina, Sham Lal Sharma, MLA, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manayal, MLA, Adv. Vibodh Gupta, former MLC, Girdhari Lal Raina, former MLC, Sanjita Dogra, Anwar Khan, and Gopal Mahajan, General Secretaries, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson Waqf Board, and Neha Mahajan, President Mahila Morcha, participated in the Core Committee meeting.
