Srinagar: Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said at Wusan in Baramulla, a car (DL6CL-4065) with three persons on board was intercepted. During their personal search, heroin-like substance weighing 19 grams was recovered, following which the trio — Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray, son of Bashir Ahmad Magray; Furkaan Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone; and Danish Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Shamim Lone, all residents of Merchipora, Tangmarg – were arrested and the vehicle seized.
One Vinod Kumar, son of Ram Lal, resident of Rawsar, Rajasthan (presently residing at Qamarwari Barthana, Srinagar), was arrested at Chichilora crossing after 46 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Budgam, at Durbugh Crossing police seized a vehicle (DL4CNA7913) and arrested its driver Mohammad Ashraf Nath, son of Mohammad Ismail Nath of Parnew, Wazir Bagh, Budgam, after contraband was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation are on, police said.
