Ganderbal Police XI beat Media XI in friendly cricket match at Kangan

Srinagar: In a spirited display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, a friendly cricket match was held today at Sheikh-ul-Aalam Stadium, Kangan, between Ganderbal Police XI and Media XI.

The event brought together law enforcement and the media fraternity on a common platform to strengthen mutual bonds through the spirit of the game.

The Ganderbal Police XI, led by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, took on Media XI, captained by Ayaz Sofi of the Ganderbal Press Association.

Batting first after losing the toss, Media XI faced early setbacks but regained momentum through a resilient 57-run partnership off 40 balls between Hadi Hidayat and Arif Kasana, eventually posting a fighting total of 146/9 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Ganderbal Police XI showcased grit and determination, crossing the finish line with 148 runs in 17.5 overs, securing a two-wicket victory.

For his outstanding all-round performance, bagging two crucial wickets and contributing valuable runs, Umar Hilal was adjudged Man of the Match.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, SSP Ganderbal emphasized the role of sports in fostering goodwill, teamwork, and healthy relations between the police and media fraternity. He appreciated both teams for their enthusiastic participation and assured that such friendly encounters will continue to be organized in the future.

The event concluded with SSP Ganderbal congratulating his team on their spirited win while lauding Media XI for their competitive performance and sportsmanly spirit.
