Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore, Budgam and Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession. Two more were arrested in the Jammu region
A police spokesperson said that at Nadihal in Sopore, search of a truck (JK05F-4786) with two persons on board yielded SpasmoProxyvon Plus capsules. Both persons — Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Habibullah Lone, of Nadihal, and Barkat Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Chakloo — who were travelling in the trick were arrested.
In Budgam, near the Railway track at Bachipora, 63 grams of wet cannabis-like substance was recovered from the of Rouf Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Haru Aboora. Bhat was also arrested.
In Shopian, acting on specific information, a police party accompanied by a Magistrate, raided a specific location at Dachoo Zainapora, and recovered 31.8 Kgs of cannabis-like substance from the residential house/cow-shed of Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of late Abdul Satar Dar. Investigation is going on and efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused person, police said.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
