DLSA Srinagar raises awareness on POSH Act, drug abuse at GBHSS Zadibal

SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organized a legal awareness programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and Drug Abuse at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Zadibal.

The initiative was aimed at sensitizing students about their legal rights and responsibilities, while also highlighting the importance of legal awareness in empowering youth to build a just and responsible society.

The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and held under the supervision of Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/ Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.

During the session, Tasneem Kausar, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), addressed the students on the provisions and significance of the POSH Act, underscoring the need for awareness to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

In another session, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, delivered an insightful lecture on the menace of drug abuse, its legal consequences, and the social responsibility of youth in combating this challenge.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, who engaged actively with the speakers and expressed keen interest in understanding their rights and duties.

The interactive sessions served as an important step towards nurturing an aware and empowered generation capable of contributing positively to society.
