Budgam: Authorities on Saturday arrested one person after he was caught ferrying a quintal of rotten fish from Srinagar Airport to his shop in downtown.
During a joint inspection at Humhama Chowk, police, along with officials of the Food Safety Department, seized 100 kg of rotten fish packed in two parcels from a fish seller, Mehdi Hasan Lashkar, son of Attaullah Lashkar of Hawgul Dori, West Bengal, presently residing at Safa Kadal Chowk, Srinagar.
The accused was carrying the consignment from Srinagar International Airport towards his shop. He was arrested on the spot, and an FIR (No. 263/2025) under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam.
Legal action under Sections 271, 272, and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 has been initiated against him, police said.
