Srinagar: A policeman was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room in Srinagar on Friday afternoon, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Mohammad Iqbal Lone, son of Abdul Rehman Lone, a resident of Kupwara. He was posted in Baramulla and had checked into Heena Hotel at Court Road, Amirakadal, on Thursday night, staying in room number 107.
According to hotel staff, when Lone did not wake up until around 12:50 pm, they went to check his room and discovered him lying unconscious. Police were immediately informed, and he was later declared dead.
Police said that proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of death, and the body will be handed over to his family after medico-legal formalities. (KNT)
