Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Friday, cautioned people against panic buying, assuring that the shortage of commodities, including petroleum products and other essentials, will end by the evening.
Asserting that the upward movement of trucks carrying fruits is on for the past two days, Div Com said that around 5500 vehicles have safely reached Jammu and beyond via the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and the Mughal Road.
He said heavy motor vehicles have been allowed on the twin routes since 8 am and the process will continue. Although the valley doesn’t lack essentials, the Div Com said the shortage, if any, is expected to end this evening.
“As for the basic goods like fuel, LPG and other essentials, the upward movement is ongoing through the NH and the Mughal Road,” the Div Com told the media on the sidelines of an event at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here, adding “I urge people to rationalize their requirements and avoid panic buying.”
