Pulwama/Ganderbal: Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully concluded two major sporting events under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), aimed at promoting sportsmanship, positivity, and stronger police-public relations among youth.
In Pulwama, the U-17 Knockout Cricket Tournament culminated at Sports Stadium Tumlahal, Lassipora Litter. The grand finale, graced by SSP Pulwama P.D. Nitya-IPS and other senior officers, witnessed Royal Challengers Petipora clinching the title after defeating Juniors Cricket Club Tumlahal. A total of 16 teams from across the Litter-belt had participated in the knock-out tournament. Trophies, medals, sports uniforms, and cash awards were presented, with the winning team bagging ₹50,000 and the runner-up ₹25,000. Individual awards went to Abu Bakar, who won both Man of the Match (₹10,000 & trophy) and Man of the Series (₹20,000 & trophy).
Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, the Police Martyrs Memorial Volleyball Tournament concluded at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Duderhama. Boys Hr. Sec. School Ganderbal emerged victorious against Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Khurhama with a 2:1 win in the finale. SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, who presided over the event, emphasized that such initiatives not only engage youth in constructive activities but also help keep them away from drugs and negative influences. The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with cash prizes and trophies. The event was attended by senior officers including DySP (Now SP) Hqr’s Ganderbal Owaise Rashid-JKPS and DySP DAR Nazir Ahmad.
Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, sports lovers, and locals, who appreciated J&K Police’s continued efforts to provide platforms for youth to showcase their talent and channel their energy in positive directions.
