Srinagar: A review meeting was convened today under the chairpersonship of the Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department, to assess the overall functioning and performance of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.

While reviewing the human resource component, the Commissioner Secretary underscored the need to expedite the process of filling all vacant positions. She emphasised that adequate staffing is essential for the optimal functioning of sports infrastructure across the Union Territory.

While discussing youth engagement in sports, the Commissioner Secretary directed the Council to conduct a population-wise analysis of youth participation in sports activities across J&K, and to analyse the same with respect to the national average. She further instructed that a comparative study be undertaken with other states that have demonstrated success in sports development, and to adopt their best practices to boost sports ethos further in the UT.
