Srinagar: In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions and adverse forecasts, the District Magistrate Srinagar on Wednesday issued a weather advisory urging people to avoid venturing close to river Jhelum, its tributaries, flood spill channel and other water-bodies.
The advisory asked residents living along the left and right banks of the Jhelum and its tributaries to remain cautious. It said that tourists, local Shikara operators, sand miners and others should not attempt to cross river Jhelum or its tributaries without verifying the prevailing conditions.
The administration has also shared emergency contact numbers for the District Emergency Operation Centre Srinagar, the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), and the Police Control Room for the public to seek help and information.
Authorities have appealed to the general public to strictly adhere to the advisory and remain vigilant in view of the weather situation.
