During the meeting, the Chief Secretary took a detailed review of the availability and functioning of essential services, including health, power, and telecom, across the Valley. He stressed that an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities such as food grains, LPG, fuel, and petroleum products must be ensured for the public.

Emphasizing the importance of preventive action, the Chief Secretary directed all Deputy Commissioners to identify vulnerable areas and initiate precautionary evacuation where required.

He also instructed them to earmark and prepare adequate relief shelters for accommodating evacuees, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are put in place in advance.

The Chief Secretary underscored the need for the administration to remain in close contact with the public and extend timely assistance. He directed that emergency helpline numbers, including those of the Emergency Operation Centre, be widely publicized so that people can reach out to authorities without delay in case of any exigency.

He further asked the district administrations to issue advisories in accordance with local requirements and ground realities, urging them to maintain strong presence on the ground to take immediate mitigation measures in this crucial hour.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and well-being of citizens, the Chief Secretary called upon all concerned departments and officials to work in close coordination and respond proactively to the evolving situation.
