Jammu: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla has strongly criticized the Union Government for its failure to respond to the recent flood situation in Jammu division. Bhalla visited flood-affected areas, including Barmini village, Greater Kailash, Lower Gadigarh, Rohi Morh, Ajeet Nagar, and Manguchak, and witnessed the devastation firsthand.
Prominent leaders who accompanied Bhalla included Amrit Bali (General Secretary), Rajinder Singh Nathu (Chairman Minority JKPCC), Pawan Bhagat (Secretary JKPCC), Gurmeet Singh (Block President Miran Sahib), S. Inderpal Singh, Jatin Vashist, Mangat Ram, Gurbax Singh, Chain Ram (Panch), Rajesh Sharma Babbi, Happy Sharma, Raj Kumar, Dr. Manohar Lal, Babu Ram, Ajay Raina, and Madam Santosh Sharma.
Bhalla alleged that the government’s inefficiency, negligence, and lack of preparedness had worsened the situation. He stated that the administration remained inactive, failing to provide timely relief and rehabilitation measures to the affected families.
He demanded that the government take immediate action to provide basic facilities, including water, electricity, and healthcare; set up health camps and temporary shelters; restore road connectivity and communication links; compensate farmers who have lost crops and livelihoods; and ensure accountability and transparency in the use of disaster relief funds. Bhalla criticized the government’s response, saying that the announcement of a relief package was not enough to address the scale of the disaster. He emphasized that people need immediate relief on the ground, including food, shelter, and medical care.
Bhalla assured that the Congress party stands with the people of Jammu division in this difficult hour. He pledged that the party would continue to raise their voice, demand action from the government, and extend all possible support to the affected families. His statement highlights the need for the government to take immediate and decisive steps to address the flood situation in Jammu division.
Bhalla reiterated his call for immediate relief to flood-affected families. He stressed that until a thorough survey of flood damage is conducted, the basic necessities of affected families—including food, shelter, and other essential items—must be provided. He further emphasized that the government should focus on delivering essentials such as food and water, shelter and temporary housing, medical care, and other basic services.
He also underlined the importance of conducting a comprehensive survey of flood damage to assess the extent of devastation and identify the needs of affected families. Such a survey, he said, would enable the government to prepare an effective relief and rehabilitation plan.
Bhalla reminded that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that the basic needs of affected families are met during this critical time. He urged the authorities to act without delay to provide relief and support to those affected by the floods.
