Srinagar, Aug 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the re-fixation of seniority for two officers in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) in compliance with a judgment from the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to the Government order, the seniority of Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo and Tariq Hussain Ganai has been re-fixed. The decision was made following a court case filed by Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo and others who were aggrieved by an earlier seniority list issued in 2021.

The petition was heard by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which had set aside the 2021 seniority list and restored the officers’ seniority as per a 2011 list.

Union Territory of J&K challenged this decision in the High Court, but the court dismissed the petition and upheld the Tribunal’s order.

In compliance with the court’s judgment, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo has been assigned seniority position 113-A, and Tariq Hussain Ganai has been assigned seniority position 120-A in the JKAS seniority list.
