Seeks special central package for Paddar disaster

Kishtwar: JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, along with Working President Raman Bhalla, Former Minister G.M. Saroori, Senior Leader Sheikh Haider, Former MLCs Naresh Gupta, Sham Lal Bhagat, Pyare Lal Shan, contesting candidate Zaffarullah, and other senior leaders, today held a meeting with party activists at the DCC office in Kishtwar.

The meeting reviewed the current situation as well as organizational activities in the area.

The meeting, organized by DCC President Asif Naqeeb, discussed the relief and rescue measures following the devastation caused by the cloudburst at Chasoti (Kishtwar) and the subsequent sequence of activities in this regard.

PCC Chief Karra urged party cadres to remain actively involved in relief and rescue operations and to extend all possible assistance to the affected people. He lauded the local population and party workers for coming forward to support the victims and the administration in this moment of tragedy.

Karra also appealed to the Central Government to announce a special relief and rehabilitation package for the affected population. He emphasized that in view of the scale of devastation and the heavy loss of life, the Centre should provide immediate and special assistance.

Working President Raman Bhalla expressed grief and solidarity with the affected families and reiterated the demand for a Central package for relief and rehabilitation. He said the magnitude of the tragedy warranted its declaration as a national disaster, to ensure full financial support for the victims and their rehabilitation.

Senior leaders Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Jatin Vashisht, Naveed Kichloo, and others were also present.

Later, Karra and Shri Bhalla held an interaction with local leaders of district Ramban at Batote, where they discussed the prevailing situation.

The meeting was attended by Ashok Kumar (Ex-MLA), Janak Singh (President DCC), Rashid Malik, Chuni Lal Goswami, Balvinder Singh, Dr. Devender Singh, Fazal Mohd., Azar Hussain, Mohd. Rafi, Jagjeet Singh, Darshan Chand, Arshad Mir, Mohd. Arshad Naik, Yassir Bhati, and Sharaz Mir.

The local leaders provided ground-level feedback to the leadership and suggested measures to strengthen the party at the grassroots.

The leadership advised party workers to maintain close contact with the people in view of the inclement weather and to keep a close watch on the situation over the coming days.

PCC Chief Karra also called upon workers to be prepared to intensify the statehood movement in the coming days. He urged them to coordinate with cadres to strengthen the party and actively join the struggle launched by Shri Rahul Gandhi against major electoral irregularities and illegalities.
