Seeks special relief and rehabilitation package from Centre

Jammu: JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra today led a high-level team of senior Congress leaders to the cloudburst-affected Chasoti-Paddar area of Kishtwar district and demanded a special central package for adequate relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

He was accompanied by Working President Raman Bhalla, veteran leader Sheikh Haider, former minister G. M. Saroori, former legislators Naresh Gupta and Sham Lal Bhagat, DCC President Asif Naqeeb, Pyare Lal Shan, Sheikh Zaffarullah, Sheikh Irshad, Firdous, Chief Media Coordinator Neeraj Gupta, Sanjeev Panda, Jatin Raina, Javed Lone, Naveed Kichloo, Rangil Singh (Block President Paddar), Firdous Mingnoo, Noor Hussain Lone, Ravi Shaan, Anas Munshi, Nayar Amin, Navin Kichloo, Dr. Junaid, Shafiq Ahmed and others.

Karra visited the devastated area, interacted with the local population and administration, and shared the pain and sufferings of the people. He lauded the residents and volunteers for working shoulder to shoulder in rescue and relief operations and for extending all possible help to the victims.

Expressing grave shock and concern over the magnitude of the tragedy, the JKPCC Chief said that only a special central package could ensure adequate relief and rehabilitation. He urged the Government of India to work with the UT administration on a war footing to provide proper assistance to the affected people.

The team also assessed the ongoing rescue and relief measures and appreciated the spirit of service and humanity shown by all those engaged in the task.

Karra said the team will further hold interactions with the local population tomorrow to listen to their concerns regarding infrastructure, facilities, and government initiatives aimed at fulfilling their developmental needs.

He also directed all party cadres, especially the youth, to provide every possible assistance to the affected people in close coordination and cooperation with the administration and rescue teams.
