During the inspection, the Speaker toured various sections of the New Block of the hostel, assessing the pace and quality of civil works, infrastructure improvements and other facilities. He directed the concerned executing agencies to maintain high standards of workmanship and adhere strictly to the stipulated timelines. He stressed that public resources must be utilised efficiently and work executed in a manner that reflects both quality and durability.

The Speaker also directed the concerned executive agency to renovate the rooms damaged recently in the fire incident on an immediate basis. He also took strong notice of the lackadaisical approach in construction of compound wall which was damaged during the 2014 floods.

Later, the Speaker also chaired a brief meeting to review the functioning of Legislature Hostel.

Speaking during the meeting, the Speaker instructed the management of the hostel to ensure proper upkeep, regular maintenance and modern amenities in the hostel to meet contemporary requirements of the legislators. “Legislators are the face of the democracy and public and they need necessary facilities with dignity they deserve,” he stated.

He also underlined that the improvements in the functioning of the hostel will not only benefit the legislators but also uphold the dignity of the institution they serve.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, the Speaker also took stock of various issues of employees of the Legislature Hostel. He directed the officers of the Assembly Secretariat for the timely conduct of DPC meetings of eligible staff members. He also called upon the officers to maintain proper discipline in the hostel and ensure proper uniform code for the staff.
