Srinagar: The Narparistan road near Tiny Tots School in Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, has fallen into severe disrepair, prompting outrage from locals who say its condition poses daily hardships and safety hazards.
Residents describe the stretch as a vital link now marred by deep potholes, uneven surfaces, and debris—problems they blame on years of official neglect. “For the last three years, not a single layer of macadam has been laid. Driving or even walking here is hazardous,” said Abdul Rashid Khan, a local resident.
Others point to poor drainage, which leaves the road nearly impassable during rains. “Waterlogging, runoff, and incomplete drainage work have worsened the damage,” said another resident.
The crumbling road is also raising health concerns. In dry weather, dust clouds engulf the area, making it hard for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders to breathe. Public transport and private vehicles alike suffer frequent damage, with travel times doubling.
Locals say multiple appeals to the LG’s grievance cell, Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s roads division, and their MLA have gone unanswered. They are now demanding immediate repairs to prevent further deterioration.
