Srinagar: The Court of Fast Track POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Cases, Srinagar, has initiated proclamation proceedings under Section 82 of the CrPC against the accused, Gurpreet Singh, son of Mohan Singh, a resident of Fateh Jalal, Jalandhar.

The proceedings are in connection with FIR No. 72/2021, registered at Police Station Khanyar under Sections 363 and 376 of the IPC, and Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act.

“The said person has been declared as Proclaimed Offender by the court vide order announced on 12th of June 2025. Moreover, his appearance in the court is required to answer charges framed against him. Failure to appear may lead to further legal action against the accused person,” police said in a statement here.

It also appealed to the general public for any information on the whereabouts of the accused person and urged cooperation in the interest of justice and public safety.
