Srinagar: Police in Anantnag have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a “substantial quantity” of contraband substances in separate operations conducted in Bijbehara and Sangam areas.
At a checkpoint near Dupatyar Crossing, one Mohammad Yousuf Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Dupatyar, was arrested after one Kg of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession, police said.
At Natipora Sangam Bund, one Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Wali Mohammad Dar of Natipora Sangam was arrested and 1.290 Kgs of cannabis-like substance recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation has been initiated, police said.
