During the meeting, various issues related to the welfare and rights of pensioners were thoroughly discussed. A special emphasis was laid on the urgent need for revision of the medical allowance, which has remained stagnant for years.

The speakers strongly appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir to immediately intervene and sanction the enhancement of the medical allowance to ₹1000 per month.

The Federation highlighted that pensioners in the Union Territory of Ladakh have already been granted this benefit over a year ago, and therefore, pensioners in Jammu & Kashmir should be granted the same without further delay, in the interest of equity and justice.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution urging the UT administration to address all unresolved issues faced by the pensioners’ fraternity, especially those concerning healthcare, timely disbursal of pension arrears, and enhanced welfare schemes.
