Srinagar: Police in Budgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
One Bashir Ahmed Ganie, son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie of Wagam, Chadoora, was arrested at Repora village after 307 grams of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk were recovered from his possession, a police spokesperson informed.
He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora for investigation.
Meanwhile the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kashmir, acting on specific intelligence inputs, recovered a “huge quantity” of poppy straw (locally known as fukki) at Mulashulla, Budgam.
One Mohammad Maqbool Ganaie, son of Ghulam Hussain Ganaie of Mulashulla Beerwah, was arrested in this connection, police said.
